Browser Automation

Last verified: 13 February 2026 | Applies to: Pro (Haiku 4.5 only), Max, Team, Enterprise

Claude in Chrome lets you automate repetitive browser-based work — form filling, data extraction, dashboard monitoring, and multi-step workflows. The key feature is workflow recording: perform a task once while Claude watches, then replay it automatically. Combined with scheduled tasks, this turns your most tedious browser work into set-and-forget automation.

Basic: Ask Claude to do something on a page

Section titled “Basic: Ask Claude to do something on a page”
  1. Open the page you want to work with
  2. Click the Claude extension icon to open the side panel
  3. Describe what you want:
Fill out this expense report form: Date is today, amount is $450, category is Travel, description is 'Client meeting in Sydney.'

Claude reads the form, fills in the fields, and waits for your approval before submitting.

Read this dashboard and extract all the key metrics into a table. Include the metric name, current value, and change from last period.

Claude scans the page, identifies metrics, and produces a structured table in the side panel. You can copy this into a spreadsheet or document.

This is the most powerful feature for operators with repetitive browser tasks.

  1. Click Record Workflow in the Claude side panel
  2. Perform the task manually while Claude watches — navigate, click, type, scroll
  3. Click Stop Recording
  4. Claude saves the workflow and can replay it on demand

Example: Recording your weekly dashboard screenshot workflow:

  1. Start recording
  2. Log into Dashboard A → screenshot key metrics
  3. Switch to Dashboard B → screenshot key metrics
  4. Open your report template → paste the screenshots
  5. Stop recording

Next week: “Run my dashboard workflow” — Claude does it automatically.

Set recurring tasks to run on a schedule:

Every Monday at 9am, run my dashboard workflow and save the results.

Claude executes the recorded workflow automatically at the scheduled time. You get the results when you open Chrome.

Claude can work across multiple grouped tabs simultaneously:

Open these five competitor pricing pages in new tabs. For each, extract the plan names, prices, and key features. Compile into a comparison table.

Claude opens the tabs, reads each page, and produces a consolidated comparison.

For sensitive tasks, enable “ask before acting” mode. Claude creates a plan and shows it to you before executing each step. Useful when you want oversight without doing the work yourself.

Go through our Zendesk queue, categorise each open ticket by urgency, and update the priority field.

Claude opens each ticket, reads it, assesses urgency, and updates the field.
